Intro:

For the Pixel Perfect Shawl I wanted something that had colourwork—but without the work. I’ve created a pattern for you all that has endless possibilities. It’s up to you to find a gorgeous self-striping or variegated yarn that you absolutely love, that will do all the colourwork for you. Follow along with the square layout to get a cute pixelated-fade with classic granny squares.

This pattern is perfect for those of you who are beginners wanting to learn a few more tricks. This pattern uses triangles (half granny squares) and a JAYG (join as you go) method of joining squares which is a super fun because it uses less yarn and requires less “sewing in” of ends, on your part!

Assembling Granny Squares and Triangles (JAYG)

  • With hook size 5mm (or size needed to obtain gauge): Start in the top right corner of shawl. The first triangle will be completed from Rnd 1-4.

  • Every square/triangle afterwards will be joined to the previous one. Work Rnds 1-3, then use the 4th Rnd to join the square/triangle to the previous work.

  • Work across the top length of shawl (20 squares, 2 triangles) completing the row before joining the row below.

  • Following the layout in the schematic above to create your pixel perfect shawl!

***Please see the YouTube video tutorial below for the JAYG method of joining these squares/triangles:
