Intro:
I get asked a lot how I made this blanket for my shop. It was never intended to be a pattern-but that seems to be a theme over here, haha. So I thought I’d gather up my thoughts and put it in a place for all to see! Hope this helps!

**UPDATE**: This blanket "how-to" has been available for free on my website for sometime now, but I had never put together proper pattern with gauge and yarn quantities in a pdf until now! I hope you all find this updated pattern useful :) The ad-free pdf can be purchased here on: ETSY or RAVELRY

**Please see the following video tutorial for how to crochet the large sunburst granny square:
Assembling Blanket Squares (CJAYG):
- With RS of squares face up, lay out all squares in a “pink/orange”, “blue/teal”, “pink orange”… pattern. It won’t be exact-but just makes sure there aren’t too many of the same-coloured motifs next to each other OR use your preferred arrangement.
- This is where personal preference comes into play; there are many ways of joining granny squares. For my blanket I used the “continuous join as you go” method (a tutorial can be found below): Using Colour B, start in top right-hand corner to join squares across the rows.
Example: First row will be joined from square number 7 across to square number 1. The second row will start with square number 14 and be worked across to square number 8.
-Following along with the video tutorial, crochet squares together until blanket is complete.
- Once back to the start of the blanket (in the top right-hand corner)- DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
- You are now ready to start border Round 1.
**Please see video tutorial below to join Sunburst Granny Squares with CJAYG:
My second favourite way is to slip stitch squares together. For this method you would need to do a second round of Aran on all your granny squares before joining them all together. **Please note that if you choose this way to join your squares you may require more yarn. Tutorial can be found below.
**Please see video tutorial below to join Sunburst Granny Squares with a slip stitch method: How to Slip Stitch Granny Squares Together Video Tutorial.
Border
Round 1
Sl st over two sts into the ch-2 corner sp.
Ch 2, work [2 DC, ch 2, 3 DC] into corner sp.
Continue working 3 DC into each sp between DC shells around edge of blanket.
Into each join (where two squares meet); work 2 DC on either side.
Work [3 DC, ch 2, 3 DC] into each corner.
To join round, sl st into the top of the first DC (not into the ch 2), do NOT fasten off.
Round 2
Work a pom-pom border around the blanket. My favourite way of doing a pom-pom border can be found here: How to Crochet a Pom-Pom border.
Fasten off.
