Intro:
Socks sets…I have them, I cannot resist them…I’m betting you might have one or two kicking around in your stash as well. I don’t know about you, but I’ve nary a plan to knit a sock (or crochet a sock, for that matter). So, what do we do with them? Well it was my mission to make a blanket. This wasn’t the blanket I had originally planned (I’m still working on the original pattern design….needs tweeking), but in the meantime, this one was a good start!
I had a blast relaxing into this project and I think you will too! Happiest crocheting everyone :)

The Yarn…
I’m using the “Chickens” sock set lineup from Hue Loco Yarns for this stash buster. I had originally purchased the whole collection (Hens and Roosters) because they’re irresistible! Here’s what you need to know…
These sock sets come with one 100g skein and two coordinating 20g mini skeins. The Chickens collection is divided into two types of sock sets. There are “Hens” and “Roosters”. The Hens are made with "Phyllis Sock 75/25 SW Merino, Nylon (460yds/100g)”. The Roosters are made with “Merino Sock 80/20 SW Merino, Nylon (400yds/100g)”. This meant that I got a couple more squares from the yardage in the Hens than in the Roosters. This also meant that when worked up, the Rooster squares were a tad bit bigger in gauge than the Hens. Not enough to mess with the pattern—but please note that in the gauge below.

Gauge is IMPORTANT and will affect yarn quantities, please adjust hook size to meet gauge.
Ch 2 counts as DC throughout.
Ch 3 counts as tr throughout.
To make this blanket you’ll require 8 sock sets that have two coordinating 20g mini skeins with them. Some sock sets only have one coordinating mini skein, these ones from Hue Loco Yarn have two.
For the Hens I made 11 squares/skein. For the Roosters I made 9 squares/skein. Please see Quantities Chart below.
Blanket squares are joined with CJAYG; where each square is joined to the next in a continuous fashion while working an extra round onto each square.

With RS of squares face up, lay out all squares in the arrangement from the colour graph above.
Using joining colour (Marble Heather), start in top right-hand corner to join squares across the rows.
Example: First row will be joined from square number 8 across to square number 1. The second row will start with square number 16 and be worked across to square number 9.
Following along with the video tutorial, crochet squares together until blanket is complete.
Once back to the start of the blanket (in the top right-hand corner)- DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
You are now ready to start border Round 1.
